" Toothless " (db)© "Little gifts - Big Smiles" (db)© Nyanja Safaris offers an African experience of a lifetime where you will visit the more remote destinations and experience the wilderness as it has remained for millennia - this is.... 'Africa at it's Wildest & most Exquisite' www.profits2projects.com & www.safaris4survival.com We only use Operators who manage or support a local Conservation or Community program such as a local village school, tree planting program or anti-poaching efforts.
Nyanja Safaris is a small family run business with an intimate knowledge of our destinations. Find out more about ... who we are
Nyanja Safaris philosophy is simple : To encourage awareness of Conservation and Community projects with our clients and encourage their involvement. We want to ensure that the benefits of tourism are returned to the local conservation & community projects that our clients have the privilege to visit. Profits from Nyanja Safaris are directly returned to the Operator's own small conservation & community projects. ALL the 'ground' operators that we use have their own charitable programs such as building & supporting village schools, anti poaching assistance, community health care, village water supply, conservation education projects, tree planting programs etc. which are often reliant on donations and are imperative to the success of the local wildlife and community welfare. Our intention is to promote Africa in a positive and informative manner; to encourage client involvement and local self reliance by encouraging the promotion of local employment, improving education availability, development of traditional skills & crafts and thus ensuring a sustainable future for the local people all of which is dependant on the preservation of the local wildlife and environment.
Nyanja Safaris 'profits 2 projects' policy I started Nyanja Safaris in 2001 as my way of giving back to Africa and trying to repay the debt I owe this wonderful land and the wonderful people who live there. Africa is my 'home' and I want to share it with the rest of the world. To provide not just an 'African Experience of a life time' but a 'life changing experience'. Nyanja Safaris returns a percentage of its profits back to 'local' conservation & community projects in the areas that our clients visit. This is distributed to the operators we use for use in 'their' local projects. ALL the operators that we use, are actively involved in local conservation or community projects, for example; a Village School, Wild Dog monitoring or Anti-Poaching programs. Please ask them about their individual projects when you visit them. ALL OUR SAFARIS ARE ECO-SENSITIVE TO THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENT, WILDLIFE AND PEOPLE - WITH PROFITS BEING RETURNED TO LOCAL CONSERVATION EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS. www.profits2projects.com & www.safaris4survival.com
Our Logo represents - People, Places & Wildlife ... People - Cultural Pattern .... Places - Victoria Falls ( Africa's Scenery ) .... Wildlife - Cheetahs eye Our Name comes from ...the people of the lake ! I chose the name "Nyanja" as a tribute to ALL of Africa's wonderful people. 'Nyanja' comes from the word 'Lake'. Long before westerners drew their colonial borders between Zambia, Malawi & Mozambique the Mang'anja people inhabited the valley and lands around what is now known as Lake Malawi. Those in the north were known as the 'Chichewa' ( Malawi ), to the south were the 'Ambo' ( Mozambique ) and to the west were the 'Chipeta'( Zambia where "Chipata" is still the capital town of the Eastern Province ). In about 1860 the Mang'anja people were invaded by the 'Angoni' tribe of Zulu decent who formed 'people' called 'Chingoni' whose language became 'Chinyanja or 'People of the lake'. To this day 'Nyanja' remains the principal local language spoken by the people of Eastern Province in Zambia and has been adopted elsewhere throughout Zambia as the common language between the many tribes of Zambia where 73 different indigenous languages are spoken by the varied tribes of Zambia alone.... I was born and raised in Zambia as a 'Zambian'. I grew up amongst the Zambian people speaking their language and learning to understand & embrace their culture and customs. I am very proud to be a ZAMBIAN.
